Review

“Luxor: Amun Rising” is a puzzle game, and a special edition of the “Luxor” series. It recreates very well the ancient Egypt, when you have to save it from doom, and also defeat the rebellious princes of Megiddo. So, how do you do that? Let’s take a look at the game.
The objective of “Luxor: Amun Rising” is to create matches of three in a row (or more) balls, by shooting new balls to the zig-zag path on which the original balls are coming down. The shooter – a sliding device that you control with your mouse – shoots balls when you click with your mouse and in the position on which you’re standing at the shooting moment. The game provides a board of falling balls of different colors. When you create the match, those balls disappear and the balls around them get together. If a new match occurs, a chain reaction is triggered and you’ll get points much faster. The holes created are automatically occupied by new balls. As you progress on the game, you’ll be achieving several missions. Depending on how many balls you match, some gemstones fall down and you have to collect them with the shooter.
When you first enter the game, you’ll be asked for a player name and see the welcome screen with the following options on it:
- Change Player: in case that you’re not the right player displayed on the screen.
- Start game: this option leads you to the first level of the game. You’ll be previously seeing the instructions for the game, unless you’ve seen it before and deactivated this option.
- Options: this is the menu from which you can set some game options like effects volume, music volume, full screen, and mute.
- Hall of fame: to see the players records.
- Instructions: it displays an animated comic-styled help.
- Quit: no further explanation required.
When you’re playing the game, you can always click on the Menu button to access to a pop-up menu with these options:
- Adjust options: to open the options menu commented before.
- How to play: to open the instructions.
- Quit game: to close the application.
- Continue playing: you go back to the game.
You can try this game for 60 minutes before you buy the licensed version. Also, you can try it online, without the need of downloading the setup file. If you like it, you can buy this game for only 19.95 dollars, right from the Oberon Media Game Center, on the Web.
